Match Preview: West Ham vs. Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool side travel to London to face West Ham boosted by a potential return of Sadio Mane.

It was confirmed yesterday that Mane had returned to training and Klopp told the media in his press conference that the Sengalese forward could play 20-25 minutes.

Liverpool will be without Philippe Countinho and potentially Georginio Wijnaldum, the latter picking up an injury in the first half against Maribor mid week.

Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana remain out, with Clyne seeming further away from full fitness according to Klopp.

The manager said, “It’s not that good. He was in a good way and then had a little setback.

“We showed him to specialists all over the world and it’s not a big problem. It just needs time, that is all.”

West Ham head into this tie depleted by injuries to Michail Antonio, Sam Byram, Jose Fonte and James Collins – all of whom are obviously doubts to play.

Pablo Zabaleta will miss the game due to suspension, leaving a serious defensive selection issue for Slaven Bilic.

With no recognised right back/right wing back fit, Bilic will be forced to play somebody out of position or dip into his U23 side.

The Croat knows injuries are the last thing he needs in his situation, where he remains under pressure as manager.

He said, “I know the situation. Of course I spoke with the chairman after that game [against Crystal Palace] like I speak to him after every game and he didn’t have to tell me what position I am in or we are in.”

Probable Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Gomez, Matip, Klavan, Moreno, Can, Milner, Henderson, Salah, Firmino, Sturridge

Probable West Ham XI: Hart, Kouyate, Rice, Ogbonna, RWB?, Cresswell, Fernandes, Noble, Lanzini, Ayew, Hernández

Kick off is 5.30pm on Saturday
