Day 10 at Wimbledon saw the two Semi-Finals of the Women’s Tournament with each woman battling in order to reach the final.
Johanna Konta’s Wimbledon dream came to end in a straight sets defeat to Venus Williams.
Konta lost 6-4 6-2 in just over an hour to crush her chances of reaching a Wimbledon final in her home nation.
Williams dealt with the crowd perfectly, who were firmly behind Konta. Williams played her shots very well and hardly gave Konta any chances to break serve.
The experience the 37 year old had behind her was essential to victory and that was perhaps the one factor that Konta lacked, she had never been in a semi-final with this much significance.
You could say that the occasion may have played on her mind with wild shots and over-hit forehands throughout the match.
Credit where it is due, Williams stuck to her task and came out with the victory comfortably.
Venus will now face Spaniard Gabrine Muguruza in the final on Saturday.
Muguruza beat Magdalena Rybarikova easily in straight sets 6-1 6-1 in just over an hour.
The Spaniard showed some competent and brilliant tennis to beat the Slovakian who is ranked 87th in the world and had done extremely well to reach the semi-final.
