According to Sky Sources West Bromwich Albion are set to sign Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez in a deal that could be worth £15m between the two clubs. Rodriguez, who has suffered his fair share of injury problems looks to be on his way out of Southampton.
It is believed that the deal will be a £12m fee up front, with a further £3m in add-ons rising up the supposed £15m fee. Tony Pulis has been rumoured to be a long time admirer of the 27-year- old.
Rodriguez has struggled to maintain a consistent run of form or games in the side due to his injury struggles in the past couple of years and other factors including struggling to break in to the side, whilst the side were managed by Ronald Koeman and Claude Puel respectively.
Southampton currently have four centre forward options in Manolo Gabbiadini, Shane Long, Sam Gallagher and Charlie Austin, so with the options new boss Mauricio Pellegrino has, Rodriguez will find it difficult to get game time.
Jay Rodriguez signed for Southampton in 2012 from Burnley for The Saints first season back in the top flight. Rodriguez thrived under Mauricio Pochettino and had been linked with Tottenham Hotspur.
It seems to be however, that Jay Rodriguez will be West Brom’s first addition of the 2017 summer transfer window.
