Michael Van Gerwen could secure the Premier League’s top spot as he plays twice this week, whilst Peter Wright aims to secure his play-off place as the tournament visit’s Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena for night 13.
James Wade vs Adrian Lewis
James Wade comes into this clash knowing he has to win to mathematically keep his top four hopes alive. He currently sits in last place four points off the play-offs.
Lewis meanwhile, doubles up this week and will need strong results against both MVG and the aforementioned Wade if he is to get into the play-offs for finals night.
Speaking before the game he said:” it’s a massive night and I’m looking forward to it. It’s so tight in the league but I know if I can win both games I’ll be in a really good position”.
Dave Chisnall vs Michael Van Gerwen
Table-topping MVG comes into this week in the knowledge that he can win the league phase for the fifth season in succession but will have to overcome a fired-up Dave Chisnall first.
MVG is keen on completing the job saying:” I want to be top of the table and that’s where I am. I’ve done this for every year I’ve been in the Premier League and I want to keep it going”.
” I love to play well and perform really good, and that keeps me motivated. I feel good and I want to make the difference with these two games”.
Chisnall still believes in reaching the top 4 despite being on a 14- game losing streak against the worldno1.
speaking beforehand he said:” I’ve got three points to go and there’s six points up for grabs, and if I can keep playing like I did in Belfast then I can pick up six points”.
Phil Taylor vs Peter Wright
The 16x world champion comes into this one in 3rd place in the table on 15 points knowing that a win would virtually seal his place in the top four.
Snakebite can secure his place at the O2 with a win over Taylor but isn’t ruling out the Power winning the title and considers him a threat.
” Phil beat me last time we played, but I want to get him back this week. He’s so relaxed that he doesn’t care and that’s why he’s dangerous now”.
” He’s going to be a major threat to the title. He’s not rolling over because it’s his last year, he’s up there with the attitude to fight for every leg so hats off to him”.
Gary Anderson vs Raymond Van Barneveld
The Flying Scotsman currently sits in fourth place in the table on 14 points and will be looking for a win over ‘Barney’ to secure a spot in the top 4 for the tournament’s end.
Barneveld is looking to avenge his defeat to fellow countryman MVG last week and believes he still has what it takes to make the play-offs.
” It’s very hard to predict what will happen in this Premier League”. ” All I can do is think about my game and prepare as well as I can because the standard is so high”.
” If I win my last three games then I will make the play-offs, and that’s what I’m aiming to do”.
Adrian Lewis vs Michael Van Gerwen
In the final game of the night MVG will be hoping to secure top spot but will be in for a tough fight against 2011 Premier League finalist Lewis.
” Adrian is playing good darts at the moment, but I want to make sure I get four points and make sure I’m clear at the top of table so no-one can catch me”.
Lewis is confident of winning both his games despite the tough opposition he faces.
” I’ve been playing well and I know I can beat both James and Michael, but it’s up to me to go out there and do it on Thursday”.
