Southport, Prescot Cables into Final

Southport and Prescot Cables won their respective semi final’s against Litherland REMYCA and Bootle to advance to the LCFA Senior Cup Final.

The higher scoring game of the night was at the Delta Taxis Stadium, where Cables put five past Joe Doran’s Bootle in a 5-1 victory.

Goals from Josh Dolling, Dominic Reid, Dale Wright, Lloyd Dean and Josef Faux gave Brian Richardson’s side their first win this month.

Mikey Ordish grabbed Bootle’s only goal to make it 2-1 just before half time, giving the Bucks a lifeline heading into the second half.

It failed to provide a spark for Bootle and Cables advance to the final.

They will play Southport after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Litherland REMYCA live on B Live Sports Radio saw the National League side prevail.

An 82nd minute goal from Ben McKenna proved to be the deciding goal in the game when the winger struck a left footed half-volley past Sean Lake at the near post.

After a scrappy first half with lots of sloppy passes from both sides, REMYCA capitalised when Alex Ryan stole possession from a Southport goal kick and found Michael Boyle.

Boyle made no mistake and slotted home the first goal of the game, and giving the away side a 1-0 lead at half time.

Andy Preece’s side did respond immediately after they restarted the second half, with Rory McKeown finishing off a rebound from a good Sean Lake save.

Substitute Louis Almond put Southport ahead in the 68th minute, but their lead didn’t last long as Alex Ryan scored a long range curling effort to lob the keeper straight from the kick off to equalise.

At 2-2 the game became tense, with both sides trying to find a winner to book their place in the final.

Tempers flared when Almond appeared to stamp on REMYCA captain Stephen King following a robust challenge from the skipper.

Southport managed to see the game out after their winner, with REMYCA struggling to find a clear chance for an equaliser.

Two magnificent games of football, with both losing sides giving an excellent account of themselves despite being several leagues lower than their opponents.

There is no official date of the final as of yet, but as soon as the details are confirmed we will let you know right here on B Live Sports.
