The Macron Cup Quarter Finals Results

Ashton Athletic 2-2 Bootle (2-5 after ET)

Bootle are through to the Semi Finals, beating Ashton Athletic 5-2 after extra time.

Ashton lead 2-0 at half time with goals from Samuel Bailey and Christopher Webster.

Ben Hodkinson and Ryan Cox brought the tie level in the second half, Cox’s goal coming in the 89th minute to send the game to extra time.

James Howell and Josh Hamilton’s goals along with Hodkinson’s second of the game sent Bootle through to the next round.

Nelson 1-3 Chadderton

First Division side Chadderton defeated Premier Division Nelson 3-1 away from home in the big upset of the round.

Chaddy raced to a 3-0 lead within 36 minutes, goals from Leon Kuroe, Tim Astley and Sam Gibson for the away side.

Jay Hart replied moments after the third to make it 3-1 but no further goals came in the second half.

A huge result for Chadderton.

Widnes 0-1 Barnoldswick Town

Danny Craig’s Barnoldswich Town continue in the Macron Cup after beating Widnes.

A goal on the stroke of half-time from Andrew Hill was enough for Barnoldswick Town to progress to the Semi’s past Widnes.

Widnes will now be back to focusing on finishing in the playoff places within the First Division.

Silden 0-2 City of Liverpool

Goals either side of halftime from Elliot Nevitt and John Connolly helped COL see off Silsden.

Simon Burton’s side progress to the Semi’s in their first attempt at winning the competition.

It’s been a good inaugural season for the Purps, with the side also challenging for the First Division.

Semi Final Draw:

It will be a Premier Division club against a First Division club in this season’s Macron Cup Final after the draw was completed following the Ashton Athletic – Bootle game.

Premier Division side’s Barnoldswick Town and Bootle will face each other, with City of Liverpool and Chadderton scrapping to represent the First Division in the final.

The ties are two-legged affairs and the date’s are TBC.
